Addressing inequalities in the early detection of hematological malignancies

2 Feb 2026

Driven by consortium partners, PredictBy, Deliverable D6.9, ‘Addressing Inequalities Recommendations,’ has been completed and formally submitted as part of Work Package 6, in December 2025. This public deliverable brought together data collection and stakeholder input to address inequalities in the early detection of hematological malignancies.

The report highlights that inequalities in blood cancer outcomes are driven largely by delayed diagnosis, fragmented access to care, limited health literacy, as well as geographic and socio-economic barriers, rather than by biological factors alone. Using the European Cancer Inequalities Registry as a reference, the report situates these challenges within a broader EU context and shows how factors such as income, education, age, and place of residence affect access to early detection.

It also demonstrates how SANGUINE has embedded equity considerations throughout the project, including inclusive recruitment, multilingual communication, decentralised testing approaches, and co-creation with patients and stakeholders. Feedback from stakeholders reinforces trust, clear communication, and emotional support that are critical components of equitable early detection.

Based on these insights, the deliverable puts forward a set of practical recommendations.

  • Develop inclusive communication materials that are multilingual, use plain language, and rely on visual formats where possible

  • Use a mix of dissemination channels, combining digital tools with offline and community-based approaches

  • Work closely with patient organisations and medical associations to co-create trusted and relevant materials

  • Reduce financial and practical barriers through reimbursement, decentralised testing, and remote care options

  • Strengthen trust and support, for example, through patient navigators, peer networks, and empathetic communication

Overall, Deliverable D6.9 ensures that SANGUINE’s scientific advances in early detection are supported by clear, actionable guidance to promote more equitable access and better outcomes across Europe.
