As part of the SANGUINE project, JaxBio and Tel Aviv University (TAU) carried out an extensive discovery phase to identify disease-associated biomarkers for the detection and differentiation of hematological malignancies.
The studies analysed DNA methylation patterns in blood samples from patients with a range of hematological conditions. The research identified disease-specific epigenetic signatures capable of distinguishing patients with hematological malignancies from cancer-free controls.
These findings provided the foundation for developing the HemaChip, translating the discovery results into a targeted platform for further validation within the SANGUINE project. Based on the discovery results, approximately 1,000 probes representing selected biomarkers and controls were incorporated into the custom HemaChip. This platform will enable large-scale validation of the identified biomarkers across the SANGUINE clinical network.
