PredictBy is leading a co-creation process to design communication packages that enhance participation in screening and early detection of blood malignancies using a newly developed blood test. The co-creation process involves healthcare professionals, technology developers, patients, and patient representatives. The set of communication package mock-ups will include the necessary informative and graphical elements to facilitate the explainability and interpretability of the test for healthcare professionals and patients, when necessary.
Following an initial review of the relevant scientific literature, PredictBy together with the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) has conducted several explorative interviews with patients and patient representatives, healthcare professionals, and technology developers in the field. The aim of these initial interviews has been to identify information needs and preferences, common barriers and facilitators for screening and early detection of haematological malignancies, as well as the preferred communication channels and existing communication strategies in this field. Further interviews will be conducted with behavioural and communication scientists in order to use their expertise for the development of the communication packages.
In the next steps of this strand of work, several focus groups with different stakeholder types will take place to further develop and validate the content of the communication packages. The final validation of the communication package mock-ups will be tested with ~2.000 individuals to assess the extent to which these instruments increase the willingness to participate in screening and early detection programmes or campaigns.
